And here is the reason for this roll over: The "Hell Hole." We will be putting some microglass in the groove and then two ply of bid from the bulkhead on the left , then down, across the strake top (on the bottom here) and the spar cap.
A bit of a side note:
You may not notice, but this channel is narrower than it should be - about two inches narrower. When measuring the bulkhead location, we used the spar shear-web and not the front of the spar cap. So the bulkhead is two inches closer on the outboard end. But the inboard end is about two inches wider because we located it so that the inboard spar bolt could be inserted from front to back as is preferred. It just barely works. So in the end, we have a narrow channel, but more room at the inboard end.
Also, there are two bulkheads that go across this gap. They are a real problem to install, especially with this narrow gap. At Brett's suggestion, we pre-fab'd flanges (light colored things in the foreground and bight spot down the channel). Then we will just push the bulkhead, loaded with micro, against these flanges. Then two bid on this side.
Since there are wires to run to the wing, the bulkheads also have to have an opening. These enabled us to put a layup on the backside to tie these into the flange.
I hope it will make sense as you see the pictures. |
