Of course we had to make tools to do this. It's what I do when I have a difficult layup.
In this case we have to work in the so called "Hell Hole". Ours is only four inches wide and 40 inches deep. The factory suggests a dowl with a nail and a yard stick. I didn't see that working for me. This tool allowed us to work from the outboard end because there is almost zero access from the inboard end. Linda ran the tools, and I lay in the fuselage to better judge the location of the tool and the completeness of the work. Oh, and since Linda's back was hurting, the fuselage duty had to be my job!
This is a bit of "U" channel with a dowel rond on the end and, in this case, a cut-down squeegy to spread the micro. You will see that we also made a cut-down 1-inch brush attachment. (More detailed pictures follow.) |
