Today's first task was hanging the engine (again) so that we could determine the bolt lengths we need, since the thickness of the firewall varies. Our shortest bolt will be an AN7-30, and our longest will be an AN7-35.
The afternoon was spent working on the layout for the fuel lines at the rear of the fuselage. When we tried to install the fuel line finger strainers, we realized that we had Jeffco in the fuel line hole (from sealing the fuel tank), and this needed to be removed. To ensure that we didn't introduce crud into the fuel tank, we staged a three-man operation: Jerry with the grinder, Brett with the shop vac at the grinding site, and Linda blowing air into the tank from the compressor. |
