We set the new hinge arm in place, then carefully removed the elevators. We needed to locate the drill point on the arm.

We used the laser level to locate the drill point. For the X (horizontal) location, we aimed the vertical beam of the laser straight through the bolt holes in the row of elevator hinge arms. This resulted in a nice red dot on the center hinge arm.

Pictured here: For the Y (vertical) location, we moved the laser level a little to to the side, then lined up the the horizontal beam of the laser through the same bolt holes. This step of the operation required leveling the canard.
