And now it starts. This is the final design of a turning vane. It takes the 3 inch inlet and splits it and turns the air. It has an airfoil splitter and rounded corners on the bottom. The top slopes from a high point in the middle to low points on the exit sides. In the large view you may be able to make out two holes that provide an exit on the bottom. Both the top and bottom are designed to allow any water that enters to flow to the back of the plenum and enter the drain tubes.
The idea of the two turning vanes is that this seem to be the largest radius that I can get without setting the NACA off center. I think that would look truly ugly. This is the compromise. |
