The aileron torque tube has been installed in the keel. Here the rear aileron control bracket is held in place with a clamp. We have the aileron cable temporarily installed on the bell crank.
We measured the cable's end-to-end distance from the this bell crank to the bell crank in the wing root. We used heavy electrical wire for a dry run to our marked location on the gear bulkhead. It looked like the cable wasn't long enough by at least one inch - maybe 1.5 inches. We agonized. We re-measured. Because we have WingCo wings, we are no longer confident that we can build strictly according to the manual. So, we called another Velocity RG builder to double-check his wing-to-fuselage measurements.
We decided that it would help if we changed the location of the holes slightly from where the manual called for them. Then we verified that the new hole location wouldn't interfere with the retraction of the main gear. |
