The manual calls for wide area washers on the bulkhead for the bolts that secure the steel captivator (yup, we had to look up the name of that part!). Because of the location of the Mishler nose gear retract assembly on the firewall, washers won't work for us. Instead, Jerry created this 'captivator plate' to secure the captivator bolts.
Because the lower part of the plate sits behind the gear retract assembly, we needed to create grooves for the rotating plates (see next picture). |
