We've decided to do 'Mulrooney Mod', that is, the elevator center bearing support modification as documented by Andy Millin, developed by Bill Mulrooney. This mod replaces the bushing with a self-centered bearing for smoother elevator operation. (For great photos and more info, see Pics 1641 & 1642 on Andy's builder site.)

The first step of the process is to remove the factory-supplied center hinge arm. The second step is to shorten the elevator torque tube flanges to create space for the new arm.

Here the elevator torque tubes are centered on the crater that we created when we removed the original hinge arm.
