We cut the new hinge and held it in place with clamps while we tried the hinge pin. We found that the fit improved with a slight bend in the top corner of the hinge material at the front of the doghouse. When we were satisfied that the hinge worked well, we tacked it down with a milled fiber slurry (actually, more like a sludge).
We worked to make sure that our epoxy standoffs extended beyond the edges of the hinge so that we'll be able to easily locate the hinge for final installation. |
