Here is our reinforced control stick pivot assembly. Because this was a custom one-off solution, it required several hours of machining time.
In the previous picture, we showed the control stick (tube) with a reinforcement disk. Each tube has a reinforcement disk which is clamped with a bracket and two screws. The disks and brackets are made of aluminum.
With the disks installed onto the tubes, the entire assembly is connected by a single bolt through the center.
This solution pushes our control stick off-center in the keel to the right. We've modified our keel opening to compensate.
We have some slight misalignment with this assembly: When the control stick is moved forward and aft, and the disks rotate against each other, there is noticeable friction on one quadrant of the disks. Resolving that misalignment is a job for tomorrow. |
