We took the control pivot assembly apart, and we opened up the holes. We added Anti-Seize between the disk surfaces.
When we put it back together, we left the bracket-to-disk screws a little loose until the center bolt was tightened. Then, checking for friction periodically, we tightened the bracket screws incrementally. It seems that over-tightening one side or the other causes the tube to turn slightly, resulting in a misalignment between the disks.
Although a very small friction still exists, the operation feels smooth, and we're satisfied with the assembly. We need a longer center bolt, but we're done with this until the canard is installed and we can hook up the elevator controls. |
