About 9 months of work is not yet entered, but I am just picking up with documenting what we are working on right now.
We are creating the 'true' NACA ducts, ala Andy Millin's design, which was based on work done by Rich Guerra working with Hangar 18.
This shows the cutouts. What is not shown is that we removed the inside glass and foam so we could create a flat floor on the duct. We assumed that was the right answer, but didn't see anything documented one way or the other.
I do know that this is more work. It seems that every time we diverge from the factory solution, there is more work involved. This is true here. What's more, I don't even have data that shows that this will be any more efficient that the factory NACA-like scoops. (I did not get the factory inserts with my kit in 1998.)
Mostly this seem to be a religious pursuit. I believe it's better, so I will do this. Besides, it looks cool. |
