We made the next adjustment to the retract system. The builder's manual says, ''With the main gears up where you want them, gear doors flush, fashion some rubber spacers to fit at the junction of the horizontal and transverse bulkheads so the gears don�t move side to side.''

It took some head scratching to understand what was meant. After we figured it out, we decided that a white rubber mallet would provide good material for rubber spacers. We used the band saw to cut wedges from the mallet.
